One last drink in Oia

A Greek barkeeper mixes a drink at the counter of Hassapiko Bar in Oia, Santorini, Greece

On the last evening before our departure, we found the “Hassapiko” Bar in Oia still open and decided to toast a great stay in Santorini with one last drink. We had celebrated in the same way with friends in the Athens nightlife, where we also discovered new mixed drinks, such as the Greek version of the Mojito with Mastiha liqueur.

Besides a few locals, hardly any tourists came as guests now in the low season, the barkeeper told us. He was only on Santorini for the summer and, after the exhausting months, was already looking forward to mid-November when this bar would also close, and his soon-to-be return “home” to the mainland, as he further described to us during our conversation while preparing our “Porn Star” drinks.

We had experienced a lot in just one week – from peaceful hours in the sun on the terrace, with the panorama of the caldera before us, to interesting encounters with locals and travellers, impressive landscapes and beautiful villages – and had chosen the perfect time of year for our trip.
