Hong Kong and Macau, 1997

These two cities bear witness to European colonial history and continue to fascinatingly link Asia and Europe even today. I got to know both cities on my way to and from New Zealand. The first time was before the handover of the former colony from Great Britain to China, and the second time was afterwards. As a tourist, I noticed no difference, apart from a few flags.
