When I was catching up on my A-levels at a college, one of our study trips took us to Budapest. In the years following the opening of the Iron Curtain, the socialist flair was still palpable in the countries of the former Eastern Bloc, but the first signs of capitalism were already present. It was a time of transition, which we had also experienced the year before in Prague.
