Cape Verde remastered

In 1995, I travelled to Cape Verde. The following year, I was able to meet the legendary world star Cesária Évora and the band, including musicians such as Bau (Rufino Almeida), Fernando Andrade, José Paris, Luiz Ramos and Nereu Dos Santos, backstage after their Zeltival concert in Karlsruhe. I gave them some of my pictures and had photo prints signed.

That is how these signatures ended up on the picture of the beach in San Pedro and the sunset on Boa Vista, among others.

30 years later, I have re-digitised the original images (on Kodachrome 64 slide film) in higher resolution using a Nikon D600, a 60mm macro lens and a film holder, and cleaned and retouched them accordingly. These images provide a look back into the past – discover the nature, culture and people of the Cape Verde Islands in 1995.
