Dear visitors,
This website grew out of an event featuring multi-vision presentations and a travel fair, the “Karlsruhe Travel Festival”, which I ran together with Manfred Weis from Karlsruhe in the 90s, in order to share our passion for travel and photography with a wider audience.
My enthusiasm for travel and photography began as a child, when I loved looking through coffee table books and was fascinated by the impressive images of foreign cultures and landscapes. I then dreamed of adventures in distant lands and lost civilisations. Years later, I started travelling — the ancient wonders of the world in Egypt or Greece, the fascination of far-off countries like New Zealand or Australia, the unknown history of the Cape Verde Islands, and so on — and turned many of those old dreams into reality. The galleries, images and stories shown here are the results of these formative journeys.
Besides exploring ancient cultures and connecting with the world’s diverse peoples, I am also drawn to adventure, wilderness and magnificent natural landscapes, which I experience on numerous treks, hikes or climbs — even if my limits don’t stretch as far as those of some extreme athletes we see in captivating and thrilling images at many festivals and events.
I worked as a hut warden in Tongariro National Park, celebrated New Year’s Eve with locals on a Nile bridge in Cairo, climbed the odd mountain, experienced deep solitude in the wilderness and great joy at celebrations with people from all over the world.
I hope to awaken or strengthen your own enthusiasm for the beauty of this earth and for the exchange between people of all cultures.
