For children, summer lasts forever

Memories of childhood summers are often shaped by heat and sunburn, ice cream and cool lemonade (Coke?), swimming pools or the sea, stuffy air in tents and itchy mosquito bites during the almost eternally long summer holidays. What will the children remember from their summer holiday in the archipelago of Sweden’s west coast?

After wonderful days on the island of Tjörn, we had now arrived in Stocken on the island of Orust. During a walk through the village, we discovered a diving board on the rocks near the harbour. Laughter, whooping and splashing could be heard from afar. Children and adults alike jumped from various heights between 1 and 5 m into the rather cool seawater. From brave headfirst dives with a run-up to timid hops with a pinched nose, the most diverse styles could be observed by the watching parents.
