Beach huts near Skanör in southern Sweden

Beach huts near Skanör, Scania, Sweden

These colourful beach huts stand on the kilometre-long, fine sandy beach of Skanör / Falsterbo, a peninsula in the southwest corner of Sweden. Besides the beach, there are delicious fish restaurants in the harbour to enjoy, and in autumn, numerous migratory birds leave the Swedish mainland at Skanör on their route south.

It gets very busy here, especially at weekends, when many day-trippers arrive from nearby Malmö or even across the Öresund Bridge from Copenhagen. However, it becomes significantly quieter in the late afternoon. We spent a sunny and relaxed afternoon here after the drive back from Stockholm, before setting off on the last stretch of road to nearby Trelleborg to check in for the night ferry to Rostock.
