In the Amphitheatre of the Memminger Hut

Memminger Hut, Upper Seewisee, Freispitze and Seekogel, Lechtal Alps, Tyrol, Austria

The Seescharte (2599 m) is a frequently used pass from the Lech Valley to the Inn Valley on the long-distance hiking trail E5. However, I reach it on the way from the Württemberger Haus via Großbergspitze and Großbergkopf to the Memminger Hut and on to Bach, where I started my round trip through the Lechtal Alps three days ago. On this sun-drenched summer day, a magnificent panorama opens up before me with the rocks of the Seeköpfe, the wild and steep ridges of the Freispitze, the three turquoise glowing Seewiseen, the grassy Seekogel and the Seeschartenspitze, which form a grand ensemble around the Memminger Hut.

Lower Seewisee near the Memminger Hut, Lechtal Alps, Tyrol, AustriaOver scree and rubble, I soon reach the lower Seewisee, whose fresh green and turquoise glow, framed by lush green mountain meadows and the amphitheatre of red, yellow, and white rock, contrasts beautifully and invites a swim. Now it’s just a few more steps to the hut, where the hut team is sitting together for lunch, enjoying a short break after an overflowing night.

Gradually, the sun terrace fills up, where I stretch my legs, enjoy a hearty soup, and look into the enthusiastic faces of returning climbers, listening to their reports.
