The Volkan Cinema in Fira

The restaurant Volkan on the rocks is located on a rocky outcrop on the cliffs of Santorini in Fira. From the outdoor tables and the garden bar, guests also get an optimal panoramic view of Fira and the entire caldera and islands. In the evening, the bar also offers another highlight: an open-air cinema.

After sunset, a whitewashed side wall on the terrace transforms into a cinema screen. In summer, a film is shown every evening at the Volkan Cinema; in 2024, the ABBA musical “Mamma Mia” was on the programme daily. How fitting, as it’s set on a Greek island (the real filming locations were on Skiathos and Skopelos). The fiction, with comedy and drama, acting, music and dance, joins the reality, which in all its beauty can already evoke enough emotions here.

Unfortunately, the screening times were already over; just two days later, the terrace with the bar was also completely closed and the summer season thus ended.
