Flowering Clover in Fields

On bike tours through the agricultural fields of Erdinger Moos, I’m currently enjoying the vibrant colours of spring blossoms. Alongside the many yellow hues of rapeseed and buttercups, the finger-thick pink clover blossoms create waving seas in the wind, catching my eye. Soon, the red fields of poppies will join them, heralding summer.

The flat Erdinger Moos is characterised by fields and meadows, criss-crossed by hedges, small groves, and many drainage canals and streams. In the distance, the still snow-capped Alps stand out sharply in the clear air as a contrast: the Wetterstein Mountains with the Zugspitze, Karwendel, and the Chiemgau and Ammergau Alps. Such moments always give me goosebumps with their grace and beauty. The tower of Munich Airport repeatedly appears in the frame, reminding us of the proximity to the big city of Munich, despite the rural atmosphere with its fields, villages, and scattered farms. The metaphor of “laptop and lederhosen”, coined in 1998 by then-Federal President Roman Herzog, symbolises Bavaria’s development from an agricultural region to a high-tech hub.
