Slacklining over the Isar
Munich lifestyle: balancing on a slackline over the Isar. Two highlines are strung up next to Luitpold Bridge against the colourful autumnal backdrop of the Peace Monument in the Maximiliansanlagen. The length is over 60 metres. Two young men walk along them high above the water, including the occasional stumble. A safety rope and climbing harness then prevent a fall.
Luitpold Bridge is located on many popular walking routes, along the Isar or between Prinzregentenstraße and the Angel of Peace. Therefore, on this warm, sunny autumn day, a few spectators always gather on the bridge.
Four large stone sculptures are erected next to the bridge. The sculptures symbolise the four Bavarian regions of Old Bavaria, Swabia, Franconia and the Palatinate (when the bridge was completed in its current form in 1903, the Palatinate still belonged to Bavaria). Why does the hunter, who symbolises Old Bavaria, actually look so sad?
