On the Summit of Pleisenspitze (2,567 m) in the Karwendel

After a longer rest at the Pleisen Hut I decided late in the afternoon to set off again and continue following the path to Pleisenspitze. Initially, the path led through dwarf pine forest, then became steeper, reaching the broad rocky ridge that leads to the summit from the south. Thanks to the mild and dry autumn, the further ascent over rocks and scree was completely snow-free on this first November weekend. The Foehn storm over the Alps also ensured comparatively mild temperatures, which, however, could not be perceived as such due to the strong gusts of wind. I still felt full of energy and had sufficient reserves for the return journey, and the further I went, the more ambitious I became to complete the rest of the ascent. Finally, I stood on the summit of Pleisenspitze. Pleisenspitze is an ideal panoramic peak with a magnificent view over a large part of the Karwendel, the Wetterstein massif, the Mieminger Chain, the northern Alpine foothills, and towards the main Alpine ridge in the direction of the upper Inn Valley, Ötztal, and Kaunertal. Directly to the east, the Larchetkar-, Riedlkar-, Seekaar-, Ödkar-, and Birkkarspitze peaks rose. To the south, however, lay the gloomy, damp, cold cloud banks of the Foehn wall.
