Hut Fun at Pleisenhütte

After the summit experience on the Pleisenspitze, I enjoyed a delicious and fortifying dinner – venison goulash with dumplings. The evening atmosphere at Pleisenhütte is characterised by the fact that electric light is only available in the kitchen, and paraffin lamps or lovingly arranged candles illuminate all the other rooms – creating an absolutely cosy and homely ambience. Furthermore, hut warden Siggi and his family cater to guests’ wishes with great hospitality. It doesn’t take long before the guitar or accordion is brought out and a multi-voiced song rings through the air.

The exertions of the ascent to the summit of the Pleisenspitze were soon compensated for by the good food, stimulating conversations, and atmospheric hours, so despite the late hour, I decided to set off the next day for the sunrise on the summit of the Pleisenspitze – which was also my original goal for the two-day tour.
