The Viking Museum of Roskilde

Today, Roskilde is perhaps better known for its annual music festival, but the city holds historical significance for Denmark, as it was the capital from the 10th to the 15th century. In the city centre stands a Romanesque-Gothic cathedral from the 12th/13th century, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Furthermore, remains of Viking longships were found in the fjord in front of the city, forming the core of the museum. In addition to these exhibits, craftsmen reconstruct ships according to old plans in the outdoor area.
