Through the Bittrichscharte to the Württemberger Haus

Bittrichscharte and Seekogel, Lechtal Alps, Tyrol Austria

After setting off from the Hanauer Hütte early in the morning, I already experienced a breathtaking mountain panorama on the way to the Bittrichscharte from the summit of the Kogelseespitze, which rises strikingly here on the left in the middle ground, and with Gufelsee and Bittrichsee, two splashes of turquoise and green in a wildly romantic landscape of rocks and alpine meadows. From Bittrichsee, I climb steeply through the scree slopes to tackle the final metres in a rope-secured gully to the Bittrichscharte at 2,535 m. The glaring sun, also reflected by the light-coloured rock, and the ascent really make me work up a sweat. Once at the top, I first have to stretch my legs out. On the other side, another mountain lake called ‘auf der Lacke’ can be seen; shortly below it, the Württemberger Haus is soon reached.
