Panorama from the Kogelseespitze (2,647 m)

The Kogelseespitze (2,647 m) is an excellent vantage point, offering panoramic views of the main ridge of the Lechtal Alps, including the Parseierspitze, Leiterspitze, Bittrichkopf, the nearby Parzinn and Dremelspitze, as well as the Allgäu Alps to the north, behind the deeply incised Lechtal valley. The image above shows approximately 180 degrees from southwest to northeast. The summit of the Kogelseespitze lies about 270 metres above the Gufelseejoch, a pass from the Hanauer Hütte to Gramais or the Württemberger Haus, and is easily accessible via the southeast flank for sure-footed hikers.
After a restful night at the Hanauer Hütte, I set off early, as I planned to take the path over the Bittrichscharte to the Württemberger Haus. Furthermore, stable and sunny high-pressure weather was forecast, so I was sure to have plenty of photo stops. Halfway there, still in the shadow of the mountains, I encountered a small black fellow, an Alpine salamander, who, like me, was waiting for the first warm rays of sunshine in the cool morning air. A little further on, the jagged peaks of the Dremelspitze were reflected in the lower Parzinnsee, before, after a short ascent, the Gufelseejoch and soon after the summit were reached. The wind prevented me from staying longer, although the panorama invited me to linger. Deep below me, the emerald green Gufelsee shimmered, which was to be my next resting place after the descent.
