A feast for the senses in Aliki harbour
/0 Comments/in Greece/by MatthiasEven though the day started off grey and rainy, it ended with a spectacular finale for all the senses in Aliki harbour. After a stroll through Antiparos in the rain, the evening concluded with a magnificent sunset and plenty of culinary delights during a convivial dinner. Read more
Rainy day on Antiparos
/0 Comments/in Greece/by MatthiasThe climate in September on the Cycladic islands usually promises plenty of sun with pleasant temperatures, still good for swimming. A rainy day is rather unlikely, though not unrealistic. So the rainy weather during the trip to the island of Antiparos was an unusual and varied experience. Photographically, however, the grey sky, the colourful rainwear and reflecting puddles offered no less attractive motifs. Read more
The First Morning on Paros
/0 Comments/in Greece/by MatthiasAfter the overnight crossing from Piraeus to Paros, a first sunny day began in the heart of the Cyclades. Despite arriving late after midnight, I woke up before sunrise and was too curious for my first impression of the island. “When rosy-fingered Dawn appeared in the early morning”*, I sat on the terrace of the holiday home and let the scents of sage, mint, and thyme from the surrounding bushes, the mild and clear air, and the pure colours wash over me. Reunion in Piraeus

The restaurant Refene was a recommendation from a Greek friend and didn’t disappoint. Read more
One last drink in Oia
/0 Comments/in Greece/by MatthiasOn the last evening before our departure, we found the “Hassapiko” Bar in Oia still open and decided to toast a great stay in Santorini with one last drink. We had celebrated in the same way with friends in the Athens nightlife, where we also discovered new mixed drinks, such as the Greek version of the Mojito with Mastiha liqueur. Read more
Oia All to Myself
/0 Comments/in Greece/by MatthiasEnjoying the panorama of Oia on Santorini in silence and deserted is, firstly, only possible at dawn and, secondly, during the off-season. This is precisely the peace and relaxation we had hoped for in November at this location, and we were not disappointed. The opposite can be found at sunset during the peak season in summer, when travellers crowd shoulder-to-shoulder on all terraces and paths. In addition to the overnight guests on the island itself, who pilgrimage to Oia every evening, countless day-trippers from cruise ships also join them.
