A Quiet Morning Walk by Lake Hopfen

Morning tranquillity on an early summer’s day at Lake Hopfen in Allgäu. Shortly after sunrise, I set off with our dog from the nearby Guggemoos Campsite. At that time, only a few people were on the circular path around Lake Hopfen, mainly joggers and dog owners. The numerous day-trippers then populate the promenade later.

Lake Hopfen in Allgäu is no secret tip and attracts many visitors throughout the year for hiking, cycling, fishing or water sports. Nevertheless, in the early morning, I enjoyed magical moments on the tranquil shore of the lake. The Alps, the Tannheim, Ammergau and even the Lechtal mountains are reflected in its surface. Nestled in this imposing panorama are the famous royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, which can be seen from the castle ruins in the forest above the village of Hopfen am See. The town of Füssen with its picturesque old town is also nearby, and to the west lies the considerably larger Lake Forggen.
