Starry Sky over Lake Tegernsee

The Neureuth Mountain Inn is perched at an altitude of 1264 m, offering panoramic views over Lake Tegernsee. As it’s open until 10 PM on Thursdays, it’s an ideal destination for an after-work social evening with colleagues, combining activity with nature.

We started shortly after sunset at the ski slope in Ostin. We reached the inn after a hike of just under an hour. Instead of the predicted rain, the evening surprised us with a clear sky. For the first time, I was able to enjoy the nocturnal view from the terrace over Lake Tegernsee, the Bavarian foothills towards the Rofan Mountains, the Karwendel, and Wetterstein – crowned by a sparkling starry sky. The Föhn wind had reduced the humidity so much that, despite the artificial light from the villages, the Milky Way and many constellations were clearly visible in the firmament.
