Autumn Morning on Irschenberg

Mist and fog over the autumnal Bavarian Oberland with the Wendelstein from Irschenberg in the morning sun, Bavaria, Germany

Mist and fog drift through the autumnal Bavarian Oberland with the Wendelstein. The morning dew on the meadows defies the sun on this mild November day. This magnificent view over the Chiemgau and the Bavarian Oberland can be experienced on Irschenberg, which most people know more from the traffic jams on the A8 motorway between Munich and Rosenheim.

Yet just a few hundred metres above the motorway, at the summit of Irschenberg, you find yourself in a Bavarian postcard idyll with cows, farms, villages, and church spires. To the south of Irschenberg lies the pilgrimage church of St. Marinus and Anian in Wilparting, a Baroque gem from the 17th/18th century.

To explore the area, I recommend the Kirchweg holiday apartment in Willing near Bad Aibling, an ideal base for many excursions in Upper Bavaria.
