Traffic-free through the Luise-Kiesselbach Tunnel
After years of construction work at the major traffic hub in the south of Munich, where the middle ring road meets the A95 motorway from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the main lanes were opened to traffic in summer 2015. This brings with it the hope of an end to the long traffic jams, especially during rush hour and at weekends, when day-trippers head south to the mountains and the Alpine foothills in the morning and return in the evening.
Yesterday, Sunday, on the way back from a wonderfully autumnal Eibsee with a dream panorama of the Wetterstein, I was naturally not the only one on the road and a short section of slow-moving traffic formed before the tunnel entrance – mainly due to those road users who, seeking only their own advantage, speed past in the clear right-hand lane and only switch to the desired left-hand lane at the last minute, thus hindering the flow of traffic.
