Groyne on Darß

The sea merges seamlessly with the sky, with no horizon in sight, the water has barely any swell, and the only movement comes from gulls taking flight now and then. There’s an impression of seemingly boundless expanse, which drains all movement, sounds, and colours from life, yet at the same time leaves plenty of room for imagination – for promising, exotic shores beyond the grey veil, for the tales of sailors and fishermen about adventures at sea, etc. A grey summer day on Darß can be that inspiring.
