The Imposing Castle Hill of Castelsardo

West of the Coginhas River flood plain, in the Gallura region of northern Sardinia, the distinctive rock of Castelsardo rises, its peak crowned by a 12th-century Genoese castle. The fortress is surrounded by the narrow streets of the old town, which presents itself in the grey granite masonry typical of Sardinia. Below it, the modern, more colourful part of the new town spreads out. Castelsardo Castle impresses with its excellent views over large sections of the north coast and as far as Corsica on a clear day, and its location also makes it a perfect sunset spot.
