Night Awakens
After a warm summer day, the bustling Old Town of Cadaqués empties out for a short time in the early evening, before the night awakens. As is customary in Spain, bars and restaurants are not visited until late in the evening; before that, people relax, stroll, or admire the twilight of dusk after sunset with an aperitif.
Along the waterfront promenade, there are many restaurants with views over the bay and the Old Town. The minimal car and scooter traffic was negligible and not disruptive.
The Tramuntana wind, which had been blowing gustily down from the mountains all day, had subsided but was still driving many clouds across the sky. In a sheltered bay, I was able to set up my tripod for a shake-free long exposure. The streetlights coloured the town yellow-orange, while the blue hour made the sky and water contrastingly blue. This was beautiful to behold once again, and a true inspiration.
