Erasmus Bridge over the Maas, Rotterdam

The cable-stayed bridge over the Nieuwe Maas in Rotterdam, also known as the Erasmus Bridge, is among the modern steel girder bridges and was completed in 1996. From the bridge, a fantastic panorama unfolds, stretching from the city centre across the harbour to the urban development area of Kop van Zuid.
What fascinated me in Rotterdam was how many different architectural styles and building trends are visible in the city, alongside the few old urban elements that survived the war; I believe one can discern a liberal attitude there that encourages experimentation. Unfortunately, not all of them were successful, but that’s part of it. Furthermore, building land is scarce here too, the demand for housing in the city is high, and the desire for the greatest possible return on investment is also a reality.
