Morning atmosphere in Porto Azzurro

Porto Azzurro is a pretty little harbour town in the east of Elba in the Bay of Mola, which separates the Calamita peninsula from the north-east of the island, and is popular with sailors and yacht owners alike. A visit is especially worthwhile in the early morning, when the harbour still belongs to the anglers, the rising sun makes the colourful facades glow and before the traffic increases in the historic old town and on the harbour promenade and the hustle and bustle begins in the bars, ice cream parlours, restaurants and shops. In the hinterland of Porto Azzurro rise the local mountain Monte Mar di Capanna with its summit cross and behind it Monte Castello (390 m), to which a short but certainly demanding tour leads for experienced hikers.
