Nga Hau E Wha Marae, Christchurch
The gate to the Nga Hau E Wha National Marae in Christchurch, with its prominent Te Amorangi carvings, marks the entrance to the spiritual and cultural centre of the Maori community: the marae. A meeting house and associated facilities such as a kitchen and schoolrooms are available there for guests, internal discussions and meetings. It is also a place where ancestors are honoured.
