Busts of King Ludwig II in Nymphenburg Palace Park

Busts with the head of King Ludwig II from the art installation by Ottmar Hörl in Nymphenburg Palace Park, Bavaria, Germany

100 gold-coloured busts featuring the portrait of King Ludwig II populated Nymphenburg Palace Park in Munich in the summer of 2018. They were part of an art installation commemorating the 173rd birthday of King Ludwig II, the Bavarian ‘Fairytale King’ who, among other things, commissioned Neuschwanstein Castle. The sculptures were created by artist Prof. Ottmar Hörl, modelled on the bronze bust (1986) on the Herzogstand (Kochel am See), and were arranged on a 40 m by 7 m wooden structure in front of the palace façade.
