Wintry starry sky over the Falkenhütte

After the climb through the early winter Karwendel mountains, a silent and star-studded night settles over the outbuilding of the Falkenhütte (1,846 m), where I am staying overnight in the winter room with another group.
No moon disturbs the view of thousands of stars, countless constellations and the clearly defined Milky Way – only the light from the settlements in the neighbouring valleys or the Alpine foothills penetrates the night as a faint glow despite a thick blanket of fog. Not a sound can be heard in the windless night, at most the crunching of the snow cover with every step.
By the way, the winter room at the Falkenhütte is excellently equipped – a powerful stove, cooking and eating utensils, sophisticated drying facilities for clothes and a great view of the sunrise through the small windows by the sleeping berths.
