At the motorway service station

Motorway rest areas satisfy deeply human needs for the traveller: food, a toilet break, sleep, and often interpersonal closeness. An opportunity to escape the physical confinement of a vehicle. Rest areas are also places of communication. So, what could be inside this postbox and who is posting their mail here – postcards of the local area bought at the service station, holiday cards not sent before the return journey, or even farewell letters?
You can see more images from the car journey picture book in the “on the road” gallery.
