Changing of the Guard at Amalienborg Palace

Whenever the Danish Royal Family is at home in Copenhagen, the Changing of the Guard takes place daily at 12 noon in the central square of the royal residence, Amalienborg Palace – an event that draws many visitors. If you’re lucky, an orchestra might even serenade the Queen.
The backdrop for this spectacle is Amalienborg Palace, which was built in the Danish Baroque style at the end of the 18th century. Four columned palaces are arranged around an octagonal square, with walkways leading to other nearby sights such as Nyhavn, the harbour basin with views of the new Opera House, or the Marble Church.
