Schloss Favorite near Rastatt

The baroque Favorite Palace, Rastatt, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Located near Rastatt and Baden-Baden, on the edge of the Northern Black Forest foothills in the Murg Valley, Schloss Favorite is a hidden gem. This Baroque masterpiece, built in the early 18th century, captivates visitors with its attractive architecture, impressive interior, and beautiful gardens that blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. Its façade is uniquely clad with local Rhine pebbles. A guided tour is highly recommended; inside, a show kitchen demonstrates the luxurious courtly lifestyle, the Florentine Cabinet boasts over 700 original stone inlay panels adorning its walls, and the entire castle houses one of the most significant collections of Asian porcelain, faience, and glass. The gardens blend harmoniously into the surrounding area, making it an ideal destination for a bike ride or a picnic – I’ve enjoyed many wonderful summer evenings there. The Orangery also offers rooms for private celebrations – especially weddings – and the grand staircase or the visual axis with the lake and castle are popular spots for wedding photos.
